Accounts Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting daily financial operations, reporting, and compliance. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Peradeniya, Kandy, ideal for individuals who take pride in financial discipline, transparency, and teamwork.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash with appropriate supporting records.
  • Ensure proper filing and recordkeeping in physical & digital files, QuickBooks (QB), and OneDrive / cloud.
  • Update and maintain the financial system (QB) on a daily basis.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Support claims and reimbursements with proper documentation (e.g., payments for Directors).
  • Raise Purchase Orders (POs) and Goods Received Notes (GRNs) when required
  • Maintain the Fixed Assets Register, assign serial numbers, and coordinate with HR to stay updated on asset handovers.
  • Assist the Fixed deposits function with investment-related reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with banks on long-term investments and provide necessary data when required.
  • Help FA to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as needed.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Assist in preparing annual audit documentation and responding to audit queries.
  • Communicate effectively with other divisions to resolve finance-related queries.
  • Ensure compliance in document handling and uphold financial transparency
  • Serve as a backup for urgent finance-related tasks during the absence of team members in document handling and uphold financial transparency.
  • Provide support for events, meetings, and conferences when necessary.
  • Assist in financial reporting and audits.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address financial queries and resolve issues

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or any other relevant basic qualification
  • Experience with QuickBooks or other cloud-based accounting software will be an added advantage, but not mandatory.

 

Required Skills & Behaviors:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and financial software tools (e.g., QuickBooks).
  • Careful with details and good at keeping things organized and in order.
  • Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple tasks under deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross functional teams.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and accountability in handling financial information.
  • Solves problems thoughtfully and is open to learning and growing.
