Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Finance Executive / Senior Finance Executive to oversee critical daily financial operations, statutory compliance, and treasury management. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the core accounting functions, reconciliations, tax submissions via the RAMIS system, Annual financial audit, and financial reporting to the management and Board of Directors.


Job Description (Key Responsibilities):

Core Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Maintain and update the QuickBooks accounting system accurately on a daily basis.
  • Record accruals, prepayments, and all necessary accounting journal entries.
  • Ensure all ledger reconciliations are strictly up to date.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and ensure the timely completion of the month-end closing process.
  • Prepare financial reports and compile supporting schedules for management, the Financial Controller, and the Board of Directors as required.

Treasury & Liquidity Management

  • Monitor organizational cash flow and manage the daily liquidity position.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cash position reports for the Financial Controller.
  • Manage the investment portfolio, including tracking the maturity and interest of Fixed Deposits (FDs), Treasury Bills, and repurchase agreements (repos).
  • Provide investment summaries to assist management in strategic decision-making.
     

Payment Processing & Procurement Support

  • Verify Payment Vouchers (PVs) and ensure accuracy prior to obtaining approval from the Financial Controller and CFO.
  • Execute online bank transfers following PV approval and maintain payment schedules and documentation.
  • Prepare and verify Purchase Orders (POs) before approval, coordinating closely with procurement and other departments.
  • Follow up on missing approvals and pending documentation.

Taxes & Statutory Compliance

  • Review monthly payroll data received from the HR Department for completeness and accuracy, including director payments, deductions, allowances, tax adjustments, and project allocations.
  • Ensure payroll balances agree with accounting records, Manage PAYE/APIT tax calculations & statutory compliance.
  • Handle taxation and statutory compliance activities, including liaising with the IRD and submitting relevant returns directly through the RAMIS system.
     

Fixed Asset & Risk Management

  • Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure full asset lifecycle tracking.
  • Maintain asset movement records, update asset registers, and track depreciation.
  • Coordinate annual insurance policies and claims related to organizational assets, ensuring all insurance documentation is up to date.
     

Job Specification (Qualifications & Requirements):

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Part-qualified or fully qualified in recognized professional accounting bodies (e.g., CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, ACCA, CMA).
     

Experience

  • Minimum 1–5 years of proven, hands-on experience in a Finance Executive or Senior Finance Executive role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing day-to-day finance operations, including reconciliations, tax compliance, and audit-related activities, Practical experience in financial reporting, accounting processes, and statutory compliance.

Technical Skills

  • Accounting Software: High proficiency in QuickBooks is mandatory.
  • Taxation: In-depth working knowledge of Sri Lankan statutory taxation (VAT /
  • Income Tax/ PAYE/APIT) and hands-on experience navigating and submitting returns via the Inland Revenue Department's RAMIS system.
  • Treasury: Practical experience managing corporate investment portfolios (Treasury Bills, Fixed Deposits, Repos).
  • Data Analysis: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling, reconciliations, and reporting.
     

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in data entry and financial calculations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet strict statutory and internal reporting deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with internal departments, executive leadership, and external stakeholders (IRD, banks, tax advisors).
