LEARN eduID provides students and staff with a lifelong digital identity to support learning, research, and collaboration with universities, research institutions, and industry partners. With eduID, users only need to remember one username and password to securely access multiple services both locally and globally. It enhances security by linking access to a verified real individual.
Soon after your eduID is activated (within 48 hours), you will be able to access the Microsoft Office 365 educational package, including online tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams. MS Teams enables collaboration through chat, file sharing, and group video meetings.
Federated Access Across Universities: LEARN eduID operates under a federated identity framework. This allows students and staff from one university to securely access online services offered by other participating universities or institutions without creating new accounts. As long as the service provider supports eduID authentication, users can log in using their home university credentials. Platforms such as edunet.learn.ac.lk demonstrate how shared academic services can be accessed seamlessly across institutions.
